The French Flea Sale and Tea Tasting!

It's that time again already.  Can you believe it!  Just seems like last week.  But that's how fast it sneaks up on you.  Things are looking great.  I love this French Farm House look that's being featured this month.  It is so me.  And it looks like everyone else is getting into it, too.  I'll be in talking pictures so stay tuned.

I also wanted to be sure to let you know about a tea tasting and scone sampling that will be happening on Thursday morning.  Linda and Andrea of The Mad Hatter Tea Room will be on hand to treat you to their wonderful scones and tea.  It is an event you definitely don't want to miss.  They'll be there when the sale starts at 10:00.  And remember, we restock so come early and often.  Hope to see you there!

God is Good!

I usually like my posts to be light and playful and not too terriby wordy.  But I felt the urge to post something a little more on the serious side.  After seeing a few fellow bloggers' post on loved ones dying, friends being diagnosed with cancer and other devistating issues, I felt it appropriate to post something a little more solume.  Reflection is always good.

It's been a tough few years for some folks out there.  Between job losses, loved ones dying, homes being foreclosed on, problems with children, and sickness, life is hard.  But one thing I do know, God is good.  He didn't ever promise us anything otherwise.  He never told us it would always be roses and picket fences.  This is the world we live in.  Hard as it may be sometimes, we need to rely on him, and not what we see.  We've only been given this one life.  We need to make the best of what we can.  Love each other, help the hurting, feed the poor, love our children and live our life the best we can.

So when those minor things are bothering us, those little things that can drive us crazy but are so unimportant, remember those who have it so much worse.  The people suffering in Haiti, those who have lost their jobs, or those who are suffering illness.  Remember...life is hard, but God is good.   I'll leave you with the words of Carrie Underwoods song "Temporary Home".

"This is my temporary home. It’s not where I belong.  Windows and rooms that I’m passing through.  This is just a stop on the way to where I’m going.  I’m not afraid because I know this is my temporary home."

Putting a Little Light on the Subject!

I came across a delapitated wood settee at a yard sale for a mere $5.  I couldn't pass it up.  But when I got it home, I decided it was beyond repair.  So what's a junker to do?  Why make something else out of it of course!

I purchased three of these bathroom cup holders at a flea market a few years back for $5 a piece.  They work perfect to hold candles.

I dismantled the settee, and took the back piece (which was already painted white) and attached the cup holders.   Instant  wall sconce!

These small juice glasses are new, but thought they would be cool accents to the cup holders.

All I needed now was some candles.  You can use tea lights, too, but I just liked the looks of these.

I think it fits perfectly above the vintage desk I have.

And I love this "Family" sign above it.  A local photographer created the letters from architectural pieces in the area.  I've seen them in catalogs, but love the fact that it's from my community!

A small portion of my white pottery adds the finishing touches!

Winter Blues . . .

So is it me, or is anyone else feeling the winter blues and needing to get away?   Doesn't help I'm fighting the crud!  But I am so tired of the cold and feel a need to venture to warmer places.  Any suggestions that are reasonably priced, yet still luxurious?  Junking available would be a bonus :)  Calgon, take me away.....please?

PS  I'm trying to revamp my blog to a cleaner look.  Bare with my during the changes.  Any suggestions?

What's that I Here? Another JUNKMARKET Giveaway??

That's right, you heard me right.  It's another JUNKMARKET Giveaway!  So if you missed out on the first giveaway, you've got another chance.  Woo hoo!

If you haven't been to Kathy's blog, you really need to check it out.  She's a fellow Contributor on JMS, and we want to encourage you all to become members on the amazing JMS website.  So thus, another giveaway!   And along with her giveaway, she is once again putting Sue Whitney of JMS to the test.  She's got some really tough questions for her; but alas, she can't stump Sue.  Sue's got some dynamite answers!

But what is Kathy giving away?  Not just the three things I offered, but she's added some extra goodies to the mix.  Well how cool is that?

So don't just sit there.  Jump on over to her blog by clicking on the blogger button on the side of this blog or the picture at the top, and good luck!

Repost - Decorationg Between the Seasons

Many of you are may be new followers of mine, so I thought I'd go back into my vast blog archives (cough, cough).  Okay, maybe not so vast.  But I thought I'd do a re-post of one I did back in January of  2009.   In it I was pondering how to decorate between the seasons of  New Years and Spring.   Take a look and I'd love to know your thoughts on the matter.

Decorating Between the Seasons

I'm in a dilemma. It's not Christmas, and it's not Spring. So how do I decorate? Do I take down all the seasonal decorations . . . Winter and Christmas? Or can I leave the Winter decorations up, including the trees?

I just felt I wasn't ready to take everything down. My house would be too bare. So this is what I decided. Winter could stay . . . snowflakes, trees, snow . . . but not Santas, ornaments, or Christmas lights. I still have seasonal decorations, just no Christmas.

Now I'd like to hear from you. How do you decorate between the seasons? Do you take all the decorations down, or do you leave some up? I'm just curious. And then let me know what you think of my Winter decor. Do you think it still looks to Christmas-y? Or do you tend to just be so sick of Winter you put Spring out anyway? Let me know. I appreciate your comments.

To read some of the comments from my original post from 2009 click here.   What's interesting to me looking back is this year, I am so sick of cold, snow and winter, I've taken everything down.  I can't wait until spring!
